Let's Waste Some Time

Check out Boomshine. It's an elegant and simple game. The object is to detonate as many of the multi-colored balls bouncing around the screen as you can in one shot.

This game made me wonder if it was also the perfect test of intuition, the ability to process vast amounts of information in a blink and come up with a course of action that is right without knowing why. Is this game blind luck, or is intuition at work, calculating hundreds of trajectories at once and sensing the right moment and place to to click to destroy as many balls at once? You'll understand what I mean when you play.

I felt I did worse when I let my analytical side take over and started thinking about where to click rather than clicking at the first spot that came into my head.

Blix

I'm not saying this game is addictive. I'm just saying level 115 is a bitch.

Just Say No

I was fooling around with a computer game called Neverwinter Nights for a few weeks. Every now and then, your character in the game yells, "NO QUARTER!" At first, I thought he was a jerk who didn't like homeless people, but it turns out the saying is his battle cry.

I heard "NO QUARTER!" so often that a version of the phrase pops in my head everytime I see the word no. Leaving the library: "NO EXIIIIT!" Seeing someone walk shirtless into a McDonalds: "NO SERVIIICE!" In my time-travel daydreams of the 1700s: "NO PANTALOOOONS!"

Man Dies After 49 Hours of Computer Games

The title of this news article should have been "Wimp Dies After 49 Hours of Computer Games". Two straight days of playing computer games is nothing. Before I busted my hemorrhoid dough nut, I could play for a week straight. Napping is for load screens.

DAMN YOU, PAAAAAPER!

There are some rumors that the winner paper clipped his way to the championship, but I don't buy them. Word on the circuit is that Kruger plays fair and square.
