Obama’s Acceptance Speech

Did you watch it? What did you think?

I watched it in an Obama cocoon, at a gathering at a neighborhood bar. I loved it. The crowd there loved it. My attention was fixed the entire time. But as a local elitist, I have no clue as to how other people less in the tank for Obama reacted. As someone following the campaign closely, it was wonderful seeing him finally flip the attacks McCain has made against him for the past month back onto McCain. If I were an undecided voter paying attention to the campain for the first time though, for all I know I would have thought, “Why is he making fun of Grandpa?”

I’ve seen about half a dozen major speeches from Obama, ones marking a significant event, and every time I remember felt somewhat angry or frustrated beforehand and happier and in a better mood afterwards. Why is a question for neuroscietists, but each time they make me feel a little better about America.

That speech was brilliant! I even wrote about it… it was that good. McCain & Co. will not be able to match those oratory skillz, fo sho.
